Applicant Organization: Home Birth Summit Research and Data Taskforces
We will produce a Midwifery Integration and Access State Report Card. Our color-coded, interactive data maps prove that there are large differences in rates of cesarean, induction, low birth weight, prematurity, neonatal loss, spontaneous birth, and breastfeeding, depending how well midwives are integrated into the state systems of health care. They show how birth place, and access to midwifery care, can make a difference, especially for those most at risk – communities of color. Last year’s grant helped us to create these powerful data maps. This year’s funding will allow us to create a strategic dissemination package to effect change at the state level. Let’s help policy makers understand why expanding midwifery in the US is urgent!
